Tennessee: Domestic violence cases shoot down gun permits
from the Chattanooga Times Free Press

Two hundred Tennesseans who have permits to carry loaded weapons may have their privileges revoked or suspended because they have active restraining orders against them, officials say.

That’s after Department of Safety officials learned they had not revoked permits, as required by federal law, from some people served with an order of protection — commonly referred to as a restraining order, said Mike Browning, Tennessee Department of Safety spokesman. read more

Chattanooga: Neediest Cases fund helps two women find hope and a fresh start

After her abuser knocked out 16 of her teeth, one woman bought dentures with money from the Chattanooga Times Free Press Neediest Cases Fund.

Another woman, whose abuser had taken control of their checking accounts and credit cards and run up large debts, used money from the fund as the last push she needed to move into her own apartment.

Both women asked not to be identified for fear that their abusers might locate them. read more
